Patience

When progress is impeded by contingencies beyond one's control, waiting for the contingencies to evolve until they no longer impede is the only form of progress possible.

What if the contingencies are within one's control, but they still impede the progress... then what is it called?

Are we talking about contingencies that could adversely affect others if we interfere with them? Then that's called Compassion.

Are we talking about contingencies that we don't know enough about yet to interfere with? Then I'd call that Prudence.

Or are we talking about contingencies that we won't interfere with out of fear of the unknown? That would be the prelude to Faith.

That's more syllables than one normally sees in a single sentence.
